Rack power distribution unit (PDU) whip cable assemblies connect IT rack equipment outlets to rack PDUs, with a typical length of up to 5 meters.
Volex offers rack PDU whip cables/cords manufactured to customer specifications using NEMA locking plugs and IEC 60309 plugs, with various connectors and cables. Volex’ rack PDU whips are cost-effective, industrial-grade and made of the highest quality materials. Rack PDU whip cables and cords from Volex include expert assistance to select cables with the right plugs, connectors, cordage, materials, and lengths to meet any power wattage, destination country and operating environment.
Our design capabilities and product portfolio include:
- A variety of plug, cable and connector solutions allowing customers to mix and match products based on the required features. Moulded NEMA twist lock and standard plugs are available for rack PDUs to comply with the required safety applications.
- Plug and connector country variants available in straight and angled versions that allow exact cable lengths on installation, eliminating unwanted loops that increase the risk of entanglement and possible disengagement.
- Award-winning locking plugs that use a fatigue-resistant plastic cantilever are also available for straight C19 and C20 plugs, thereby offering secured power. These V-Lock plugs can withstand 25kg-f and have been tested to withstand 3,000 cycles, which prevents loose connections due to system vibrations and accidental entanglement. Locking connectors for standard and hot applicators are also available.

All Volex data centre power cables are available with a wide range of safety approvals and go through rigorous factory testing and certification to ensure their quality and safety. All power cables undergo 100% electrical performance checks
for opens, short-circuit compliance, polarity test, continuity under high voltage (Hipot), along with insulation resistance testing.
